I used kraft paper and Stampin' Up Crumb Cake ink. After I did the sentiment in white embossing and the faux stitching border, I thought white hearts would pop better against the Kraft paper, so I punched 3 hearts in Bazzill embossed paper. The Martha Stewart punch seemed too big compared to the sample in class, so I overlapped the white hearts.
I had a few train wrecks before I came up with a fairly presentable card, proving that Clean & Simple isn't all that easy for me! I'm not even sure how well this card works, but it was fun and I have high hopes for enjoying the course and learning new techniques from some great teachers.

I love it! I couldn't even tell that your script background stamp didn't cover the whole card, BUT if you want to go shopping the Impression Obsession background stamps are really cool...hint, hint (just wish I lived closer to you so I could borrow it if you buy one or two or three!).
I'm proud of you for improvising, too. I find that to be one of the hardest things when I'm taking those kind of classes. I want my card to look JUST LIKE their card. I love how you made YOUR supplies work for you! Way to go!!!
