Monkey Time!

The Midweek Throwdown challenge at OWH is monkeys. I searched Freebies over at Dustin Pike's website and found this cute digi, which I colored with Copics. The inside is stamped "I LUV U". My laptop crashed :( so I had to scan this card on our other computer. Thanks for stopping by! Stay cool--it's going to reach 100+ here today in VA. Great cardmaking weather!

OWH Sketch Challenge #127

Here's the new OWH sketch, followed by my card. I've been having trouble with Blogger lately--can't seem to format the photos & text where I want them, and when I try to list card ingredients they show up in a run-on sentence in paragraph form. Any advice welcome! Creative Impressions rubber stamps from Angela's Happy Stamper. DP: "Honey Cake" My Mind's Eye. Prismacolor pencils. Hemp jewelry cord from A.C. Moore Thanks for stopping by!

Bridal Shower Papercrafts!

I wanted to post a few photos to show you some of the decorations I made for the bridal shower held in early June for my future daughter-in-law, Lori. First, my paper wedding cake, inspired by a project in "Paper Creations" magazine Spring 2012 issue. I made it bigger than the magazine project. I found the stacking hatboxes at Hobby Lobby; the DP for the "cake" and the other decorations is K & Company's "Sparkly Sweet" 12x12 Specialty Paper pad. This was a challenge and something I've never tried before! Copious amounts of hot glue were involved, lol: Here's one more photo so you can get an idea of how big it is with the snacks around it: Here is the "Love Is Sweet" garland I made. The theme of the shower was candy and an ice cream social (along with lunch). Lori's sister and matron of honor, Amy, and the other bridesmaids did a fantastic job! I made a matching paper garden flag: I made paper bands for the vases embellished with flowers, rhinestones & dragonfly stickers: Each wine glass had a purple dragonfly sticker with the guest's name writen on it in white gel pen. Lori's glass had this special added touch of netting and flower: I'll close this post with a photo of the beautiful bride-to-be. I couldn't hope for a sweeter daughter-in-law (wedding date: July 28!): Thanks for visiting! Hope you enjoyed these! Sherry

MWT Challenge: Things with Wings!

The Midweek Throwdown challenge at OWH is to include things with wings on our card. My things with wings are these little butterflies and the bird on the DP. I challenged myself to use all the pieces in this little Recollections pack I recently found at Michael's. Sometimes I buy things and don't use them, lol: DP: "Lost & Found - Market Street" 6x6 DP Pad, My Mind's Eye Chipboard pieces, crochet flower border, rhinestones: Recollections Card Making Embellishments kit Sentiment: Studio G, Hampton Art rubber stamp I tried to arrange the chipboard butterflies and shapes into a focal point collage, and also to even out the thickness of the card. The pretty photo corner is also in the packet. I also wanted to show off the bird on this beautiful DP. Thanks for stopping by!

Hambo's Snorkel Boy

The current Hambo Hoedown challenge is to use their digi Snorkel Boy and sparkle! OWH Sketch 125

Hello and welcome! Here is this week's OWH sketch: After seeing Sandy's post today on using alphabet stickers I remembered these neat metal stickers that were part of the blog candy I received from Allison! I love the Army green ones; didn't have the right letters to put the word Hero, so I spaced the rectangles into two words and put "For U": I love love these new star brads I just found at Scrapbook.com! They have a neat random shape and I love how this one matches the alpha stickers!! Star brad: Americana Primitive Star Combo Fasteners by Impression Obsession (several colors) This is one of the quickest cards I've made and I really like it, either for a hero to send home or for an Any Hero note! Thinking of Dee and her family today. Thanks for stopping by.

Hambo Hoedown sketch challenge

This week's challenge at the Hambo Stamps' Hoedown #68 is to use this cute Artist Pig digi and this sketch:
Three sentiments come with the Artist Pig digi, and when I saw "You color my world!" I couldn't resist using this DP from "World Traveler" 6x6 DP pad by Teresa Collins. I just think the tags and tickets from all over the world, as well as the word "Welcome" in many languages really complement the sentiment and image. I think of little Artist Pig painting murals in world airports, lol! I think a hero posted far away from home will enjoy sending this to someone they love!
Copics Glossy Accents Thanks for stopping by!

Vintage Fashion Challenge

The challenge over at Sugar Creek Hollow this week is "vintage fashion." Love LOVE that theme! When I was growing up I wanted to be a fashion illustrator, so I love looking at all the old vintage advertising images on sites like Clearly Vintage, where I found the cool fashion images for these two cards. On the first one, I was going to use color, then I challenged myself a bit to try a monochromatic card picking up the tones of the image. Tricky. But I love how it turned out! Another reason I love this image is because it's an old B. Altman's ad and it reminds me of my dear mother-in-law, who was a very lovely lady from New York who had the most natural style and grace; she would talk about shopping in Manhattan at stores like Altman's, which was open from 1865 to 1989 (I Googled it, lol). DP: from another YUMMY 6x6 pad from My Mind's Eye: "Lost & Found - SUNSHINE" Sentiment: fabulous art deco look from a Stampabilities cling rubber set called "Sentiments" I'm also going to post this card at OWH where the Midweek Throwdown is for Thank You cards.
Here's the other vintage fashion card I made for the Sugar Creek Hollow challenge:
DP: "World Traveler" 6x6 DP pad by Teresa Collins The red in the flower doesn't quite match the red ribbon (ack) but it looks a little better in person! Tonic corner punch Stampin' Up Modern Label punch Thanks for stopping by the blog; have a good weekend!
