"Dog House Blues" - Hambo Hoedown!

When I saw the new "Dog House Blues" digi at Hambo Stamps for this week's challenge, I knew I wanted to use shades of blue for my card. I really like navy but it's not a color I go to a lot. The little dog might have the blues but that's one cool dog house he lives in! I wanted to make it look like a weathered New England beach cottage with the grays and blue (Copics -I'm a beginner, lol). I found the little "dog tag" in a pet-themed sticker set at Michael's and pasted "I Miss You" over it. I love my new Xyron for putting adhesive onto rickrack, woohoo! Sometimes those tiny little premade bows are just the thing, and I thought it would work well here. This will be a cute card to send to OWH for a hero to write home on!

First card for the D2D progressive challenge!

I decided to have a go at the Designed To Delight progressive weekly challenge. In order to jump on the bandwagon, I purchased this cute Summer digi. I colored it with my small but growing collection of Copics; love the hot pinks and limes:
Thanks for stopping by my blog! Hope you will say hello or leave a comment.

Somebody Squealed (That it's your birthday)! Hambo Hoedown fun

Inside of card:
The challenge at the Hambo Hoedown this week was to use Pig Inmate (digi available at Hambo Stamps) and fiber, i.e., twine or string (no ribbon). I have had so much fun with many of the Hambo challenges, but this one was probably more fun than is legal to have, lol!
I found a great background image of a brick wall with a Wanted poster on it at Shutterstock.com and attached a tiny cut-out of the wayward pig. I put the second part of the sentiment on the inside of the card. I colored the pigs with Copics and distressed the bg and kraft card. I found the baker's twine at The Paper Source. The key is a rubber stamp that I stamped and cut out. Hope you enjoy this "ham on the lam"!!! I know I did.

OWH Sketch and Back to School

I used the new OWH Sketch and a Hambo Stamps digi for this card, which I hope will make a nice general "hello" card for a hero to send to a child. I need help learning to re-size digis; the image was a bit big so I had to cut it out and let it overlap the circle a bit, but I kind of like that look. I colored it with Copics and shaded in the background with a colored pencil because I only have a few Copics so far!
Digi: Hambo Stamps
DP: We R Memory Keepers "Grandma's Kitchen"
Imaginisce "Bedrock"
Copics and Prismacolor pencils

Here's a second card for the Sketch; I thought the image was cute for the OWH Midweek Challenge (I'm a little slow) to make Back to School cards. All of Slieke's cute digis at www.sliekje.blogspot.com are free if you haven't checked them out!
Digi: Sliekje
Copics and Prismacolor pencils
DP: stash

One more for the Back to School theme! I didn't know that Nikki had a teacher digi among her collection at MelonheadzIllustrating. I hope there are heroes who have a spouse or daughter who is a teacher, perhaps even a first-year teacher, who might like to receive this card:
Digi: MelonheadzIllustrating
DP: Stampin Up papers from stash
Copics, baker's twine, silver pen on her belt
Thanks so much for stopping by! I love company!

Hambo Laughing Digi for the Hoedown/starburst card tutorial at OWH

For this week's Hambo Hoedown challenge, we were to use their new Laughing Digi (which makes me laugh when I look at it) as well as a color challenge using red and teal, with choices of ivory, cream or kraft. I think I used all of the above, lol. I decided to combine it with the really fun sunburst card tutorial at the OWH Stars and Stamps blog this week.
I hope this card makes you chuckle, too! Thanks for stopping by.

You Rock card/OWH sketch 73

I have been wanting to use my guitar stamp and sentiment for awhile now and finally get around to it! I can't remember the last time I made a card that a teen might like!

Ice cream pop punch cards + one

Hi! There's a great article in the July '11 CardMaker Magazine by Kimber McGray called "Using Punches on Cards" (pp 24-25). I didn't attempt all the cute ice cream shapes Kimber made on her card but here's my go at it. Very easy and fun to make!
In this same magazine, on p. 26, is the "Readers Reach Out" feature with Operation Write Home as this issue's recipient of cards!

Shifting gears, I love vintage looking designs and want to share this card. The beautiful papers, with a touch of Orange Marmalade and Vintage Photo distress inks, did all the work! I like how the papers came together and hope you do, too!

Thanksgiving in June: OWH Midweek Throwdown

This cute little turkey is a digi by Nikki at Melonheadz Illustrating. I colored it with Marvy LePlume markers. The pp is from The Green Stack by DCWV. I did the stitching with a Sakura puff pen but it didn't really turnout as I hoped. Thanks for stopping by!

Hambo Hoedown: Three Ties Digi

I combined two Hambo digis to make this card: Lion and Three Ties. Normally I wouldn't deck out a guy card with flowers, but this cool dude is probably girl-watching from behind the tropical flowers in Hawaii. And he's all ready for the luau with his cool island tie!

OWH Sketch #72 MelonHeadz birthday boy

Recently my OWH shipper, Dixie, reminded me that OWH always welcomes patriotic cards, even when they are not for a patriotic holiday like July 4th. That made me think how happy and proud a child must be to receive a patriotic-themed card from their Mom or Dad hero! So I went to my red/white&blue stash and MelonHeadz birthday boy digi for this card.

Craft It Forward card for Operation Write Home!

This is a card I made for Operation Write Home using a Designed 2 Delight digi, K&Co.'s Americana Designer Mat Pad, ribbon from Michael's, and colored with Copics.

Purple & green MelonHeadz girl for OWH MWT challenge!

I colored the birthday girl digi (MelonHeadz Illustrating) using a combination of Copics and Marvy LePlumes because I only have a few Copics. I decided it was pretty clear on the front that it's a birthday card, so I stamped the inside with "Happy Birthday to you". I think I should have lowered the whole front down a little; do you think it needs anything there on the bottom front? Thanks for stopping by!

Strawberry Kid - digi - Hambo Stamps

Our challenge over at the Hambo Hoedown this week is to use their new Strawberry Kid digi and add buttons. I like the bright colors in this card! The bigger button is purple, altho it may look blue in the photo.
Remember if you dance in the Hoedown you get a free digi!

Also at Hambo this week we bid adieu to the retiring Bacon Bits DT and welcome the new team! Good luck to them and it will be fun seeing their creations.
Thanks for stopping by. I love company!

Inking reverse of embossed sheet

I had never tried inking the reverse of an embossed piece of paper using a brayer. It was easy and fun, and easy to clean the brayer with a baby wipe. I love how it looks! You can also ink the inside of the embossing folder, and I want to try that next.
