OWH Sketch

Let me know if you think that putting the scalloped oval behind the image makes this card too girly. If so, I may have to add some braids to turn the little guy into a little tomboy gal, lol! That's a Melonheadz digi.

Operation Write Home Annual Memorial Day Blog Hop: FINISH STRONG!

Welcome to my stop on the annual OWH Memorial Day Blog Hop! The challenge for this fabulous hop is to make a card using red, white and blue. I used OWH Sketch #169 as a guide:

My Favorite Things Pure Innocence "Aim High" clear stamp set
Pebbles "Americana" 6x6 paper pad
Copic Sketch Markers
Glossy Accents

OWH is winding down its mission because, thankfully, so many of our troops have returned home.  OWH will no longer accept cards after August 1,  2015.  It's a bittersweet time for OWH volunteers  but we aim to finish strong for our heroes! Congratulations to our leader, Sandy Allnock, for establishing and building a successful nonprofit organization that has provided over three million cards enabling our deployed troops to stay in touch with their loved ones.

I hope you have lots of fun on this hop and that we all take away even more happy memories of our work with Operation Write Home! Here's a link back to the beginning so you can continue hopping:

"Music to my Ears" Challenge at CI

I used a Crafty Individuals stamp, Cuttlebug embossing folder and distress inks to make this card for the May challenge at Crafty Individuals:

It's darker than I set out to make, so I thought the string of pearls softened it up. Thanks for stopping by!

"Say Cheese" challenge at Words 2 Scrap By

This digi is called "Snap" by the artist Birdie Brown. The dp is "Lakeside" 6x6 pad by Pebbles. I colored the image with Copics. The sentiment is an oldie but goodie wood-mounted stamp.

Now "Say Cheese" and smile!

His & Hers: Midmonth OWH Challenge

The Mid-month Challenge at OWH is to make a card for him and her (mine are boy and girl) using the same layout design. I used a sketch from the OWH archive, #208. The images are from Melonheadz Illustrating and I had the sentiment stamp in my stash.

I've had these MelonHeadz digi stamps for ages and I think they are great!

OWH Sketch #254

We are going to finish strong for Operation Write Home, which will cease accepting cards after August 1. It's such a bittersweet time--OWH has been part of my life since 2010--but of course it's wonderful that our servicemen and women aren't deployed in a war and fewer are deployed at other spots overseas.  I pray it stays that way.

I have learned so much from OWH and Sandy; and the weekly sketch has been both a motivator and a guide for me. I learned early that I can't make a good card without a sketch! Here's Sketch #254 followed by my card:

Thanks for stopping by and don't forget the big annual OH Memorial Day Bloghop on Sat., May 23!

One card for two OWH challenges

I made this card following the new sketch at the OWH Stars and Stamps blog, #253, turned horizontally:

I dry embossed the stars so it also works for this month's ODBD challenge.
It's nice to be back at blogging after a long break for a fun trip with my sister!
