OWH MEMORIAL DAY BLOG HOP!
Thanks for visiting my stop on the ginormous OWH Memorial Day Blog Hop! It's such a great way for we card makers to honor our fallen heroes: sharing ideas and inspiration for the cards we make for heroes who are serving now. The theme of our hop is RED, WHITE AND BLUE. Here is my thank you card; it's very basic design based on OWH Sketch 68. I used one of my favorite techniques: paper piecing! I love Inspired Stamps' new "Hymn Girls" line and the faux stitching stamps in their "Bind and Stitch" set! FYI: the music imprinted on Hymn Girl's outfit is part of the clear stamp. I love it.
We have a winner of my BLOG CANDY: Ann Marie ! Please email me your snail mail address, Ann Marie!
Stamps: Inspired Stamps "Hymn Girls: May Flowers" & "Bind and Stitch"
DP: Authentique "Pride" 6x6
Modern Label & Word Window punches: Stampin' Up
Sentiment: Memory Box rubber stamp
Ribbon: Paper Source
Star brads, Pearl Pen
Enjoy this wonderful blog hop! Have a fun and safe Memorial Day weekend!

OWH MWT Challenge: Two birthday cards for guy and gal
Hi! It's pouring rain here so I couldn't really get a great photo of my two cards. I wanted to try to make a masculine and feminine card from the same 6x6 pad. I'm not sure if the card with the butterflies and flower is "girly" enough. Maybe it's the lighting. Anyhoo, all the DP came from Echo Park's "Time & Seasons 2) 6x6. It's based on a sketch from the archive but I need to look the number up again.
Thanks to our MWT coordinator, Allison, for another fun challenge! Don't forget the big OWH hop on May 24!! It's legendary!

"All About Him" at A Vintage Journey
Welcome! The new challenge theme at A Vintage Journey is "All About Him." For this card I tried some of the stenciling and masking techniques I learned both at Tim Holtz' blog and at A Vintage Journey. I'm enjoying trying new techniques on this vintage journey! Nearly every product I used is by Tim Holtz, with the exception of the gear dies, clock brad, "one way" sticker, Dad and rubber stamps on the background paper:
I love vintage cardmaking for the fun and creative challenge; it's a nice change for me from my primary activity of making cards for our heroes through Operation Write Home. Most of these vintage type cards are too thick with embellies to qualify for OWH. They nestle in a shoebox until I decide how to use them! Thanks for visiting and I hope you're having fun on your own vintage journey!

OWH Weekly Sketch challenge
Hi! Here is this week's sketch at OWH:
I decided to use butterflies and tweaked the arrangement just a bit so hopefully the butterflies don't completely disappear into the patterned paper!

Fond Memories at A Vintage Journey
Welcome! I believe I am just making it under the wire for the "Fond Memories" challenge at A Vintage Journey. I love this childhood photo of me because I adored that dress. We had eight children in our family and were rich only in love, but I had THAT DRESS.
I've been acquiring more Tim Holtz products for my stash so I can continue to learn and grow in that style. This little 6x6 collage was fun to create.

And here's a card I made. I was finding it a challenge, but after I decided to stop worrying about layering the squares I ran the front through the Cuttlebug embossing folder and liked it more:

April showers bring May flowers!
Welcome! I wanted to C.A.S.E. the pretty sample card by Kathy S. that is the inspiration card at the OWH Midweek Throwdown challenge: Flowers. Stroke of luck: Hambo Stamps revived the Hoedown challenge and the theme is also Flowers! So I used this pretty Geranium digi from Hambo. I thought there was too much white space on the squares (can't leave well enough alone) so I added the ladybugs buzzing around.

Birthday card for a guy (using OWH sketch)
Hello! Here is this week's sketch at the OWH Stars & Stamps Blog:
Things got a little out of hand when I was using the checkered flag stamp, but I think it turned out OK. I like that it could be for a big or little guy. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day.

May ODBD Challenge at OWH: Embossing
I remembered a popular technique from my earlier days with OWH where the card front was embossed after the design had been stamped with flowers. It was a beautiful technique and I got the idea this morning to try it with this card for the ODBD May Challenge: Embossing. Let me know what you think! This embossing folder is my favorite; I think it makes paper look like fabric, so I had fun trying this out. Perhaps I should not have embossed the image and sentiment, but it's kind of fun how the embossing transforms the entire card front. Can we meet Sandy's challenge to get our 50 cards posted today for the Our Daily Bread Challenge! We can do it!!
Stamp: Lockhart Stamp Co.
Sentiment Stamp: Memory Box
DP: Graphic 45 French Country
Embossing Folder: "Square Lattice", Stampin' Up
Spellbinders Nestabilities: "Square Swatches"
Stampin' Up Modern Label & Word Window punches
Copics, Pearl Pen
I will also post this at the challenge blog Words 2 Scrap By, where the inspiration phrase is "Bloom where you are planted."
Have a great day! Thanks for stopping by.
