BROADWAY BOUND! Hambo Bloghop 9-21-12!
Welcome to the "Broadway Bound" blog hop, sponsored by Hambo Stamps! Today, Hambo customers like me and Hambo's Bacon Bits Design Team are bringing you fun creations that depict Broadway show titles! It might be our favorite show, or just one that was fun to design as a card. If you arrived here from Dawn's show you're in the right place. If not, you may want to start back at the beginning at the HAMBO BLOG just to make sure you are eligible for a prize.
And now on with the show!! Here's my Broadway creation; hope you enjoy it!
Did you guess Singin' in the Rain? Adapted from the 1952 film, the stage version Singin' in the Rain! played first in London and then on Broadway at the George Gershwin Theatre in 1985-86. This show has a special place in my heart because it was one of the shows my son worked on as technical director in his high school and college years. Brian rigged up a way for it to "rain" on stage without getting the stage floor wet! Hambo's Stage digi was the perfect starting point for this Broadway project! I colored it with Copics. And Hambo's "Cupcake Rain" digi reminds me of Debbie Reynolds in the film version wearing her yellow slicker! I created a slicker here by covering the yellow coat with Glossy Accents. I substituted part of Cupcakes digi with a backdrop using two of the umbrella flowers in the "April Showers" digi stamp. For a bit of vocal accompaniment--in harmony with my "garden" setting--I put a spotlight on the one and only Hambo "Singing Bug", . Isn't he cute? I drew the spotlight, colored and cut it out. I colored Singing Bug with Copics. I found the awesome sheet music background paper online (Free Vintage Digi Stamps); it looks like it's been drenched in the rain! The shadow image on the right panel of Gene Kelly's famous dance number is one I found online, traced and cut out. The collage paper on the front panel of my card is from 7 Gypsies. I made the "Stage Door" sign with Inspired Stamps' Labelmaker Alphabet set. Rhinestones are set to look like footlights! Here are photos of the 3 inside panels of the card, just in case you'd like a closer look!
Hope you enjoyed my Broadway card! Thanks for another fun themed bloghop, Hambo! And now for the really important PRIZE info:
BLOGHOP PRIZES & COMMENT DEADLINES! A prize will be awarded to one participant whose Broadway-themed creation tickles the Bacon Bits' fancy in a hammin' jammin' way! Chevron challenge at Hambo Hoedown
This week' challenge at the Hoedown is to use chevrons in our design and either this whimsical Bird Balloon digi or any other Hambo image. This digi chevron paper comes from "4Shared" which I found on Pinterest. I put the 2nd part of the sentiment on the inside with a bit of chevron paper. It looks like the Glossy Accents on the balloon "deflated" a bit, oops!
Be sure to visit the Hambo Blog tomorrow for the Broadway Bound bloghop! I will be one of the blogs participating in this Broadway-themed challenge and I hope you will come back and see my card!
Red & green challenge at OWH
Hi! The Midweek Throwdown challenge at Operation Write Home is a color challenge: red and green. I used my new Lawn Fawn Winter Bunny clear stamp:

Pretty In Pink challenge
"Pretty in Pink" is the theme at Sugar Creek Hollow this week:
I found this pretty image at Digital Two for Tuesday. The background DP is MME Market 6x6 paper pad; Stampin' Up Square Lattice Embossing folder; MFT Die-Namics doily; Ranger embossing ink; twine from the wedding section at Michael's.
Thanks for stopping by.

OWH Sketch 138-Hero Arts stamps
Here's Sketch 138 over at the OWH Stars and Stamps blog:
And here is my card:
I used Hero Arts' Close to Home stamp set; DCWV's The Green Stack for the paper-pieced house and background; white gel pen; red, black & green Copics; Glossy Accents; buttons; twine. The sky was done with a technique I learned at OWH, where you punch out a scalloped circle and then sponge around it, moving the circle around a bit to look like clouds. Thanks for visiting; have a good week!

Anything Goes at Hambo Hoedown!
Panda Gift is this week's new digi at Hambo Stamps, free to everyone who played in their progressive challenge last week, the Hambo Hoedown! This week's challenge is called Anything Goes; we are to use this or any other Hambo image and any cardmaking techniques we enjoy. Here's my card:
Techniques: I embossed the card with a Provocraft folder and sanded the embossing so the white core would show through. I covered a shipping tag with My Mind's Eye DP. I colored Panda Gift with Copics and fussy-cut the image. The sentiment is punched with Stampin' Up's Modern Label punch. I found that pink & white twine in the bridal section at Michael's. Enjoy your weekend!

Red, White and Blue!
My card is for the OWH Midweek challenge to make Red, White & Blue cards. I used the sketch Sandy posted yesterday at her May Arts video tutorial. The stamp is from Stampers Best; the brads are Primitive Brads from Creative Impressions; Bo Bunny. Today is Operation Write Home's birthday! Happy Birthday, OWH!!!
I love it when you visit; thanks!

Cards for Heroes
I made two cards using OWH Sketch 137 and stamps from Paper Smooches' Circle of Honor set. Here's the sketch:
Here are two cards. On the second one, I decided not to color the little eagle. What would you have done?
My own small way of remembering all those who died on 9/11, their families, and the heroes who rushed to help, serve and protect us, on that terrible day and every day.

"Paint the town red on your birthday!"
This week's challenge at the Hambo Hoedown is to use their new digi, Mouse Painter, and paint splatters somewhere on your card!
I colored Mouse Painter with Copics and a silver gel pen for his paint bucket. I made my "splatters" with Ranger Distress Ink. I'm running low on red scraps in my stash but I had this one perfect card front size piece! I love that the polka dots on the dp are the reverse of the splattered ones I made! A couple of manly brads, some twine and a "metal" paint bucket make this a great birthday card for a guy, dontcha think? Thanks, Hambo!
Thanks for stopping by! Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

A card representing Virginia
Hello and welcome!
The final challenge at the VCMP last weekend, hosted by Kathryn, was to make a card representing our home state. I love cardinals (who doesn't?), the state bird of Virginia, where I live. It always takes my breath away in winter to see a bright red cardinal against the snow. So I went looking for cardinal images and when I found this pretty digi at The Stamping Boutique I recalled a recent snowglobe effect Sandy made on a card using Glossy Accents. So, after coloring this with Copics and adding little touches of Diamond Stickles, I Glossy Accented the entire ornament. It took awhile to dry and I almost glued it to my table, lol, but I think it turned out so pretty! I will write a note in this card for a Hero and chat a bit about Virginia!
Have a good night!

Card for kids and 2 more VCMP cards
Here's my card for the OWH Midweek Throwdown, which is to make a card for kids that has scallops on it. I used Sweet & Sassy Stamps' "Rhubarb the Teddy Bear" set, as well as DP from The Linen Closet (haven't pulled that stack out in awhile!) The quilt patterned paper is nice & soothing with the teddy bear, and I hope it makes a hero's little one very happy!
The next card is for the VCMP challenge to use a tool or stamp that has been neglected. I bought this package of inchie stamps back in June and had not opened the package; I also used one of my square punches which hasn't come out to play in awhile. DP is from one of the My Mind's Eye 6x6 pads. The sketch is from the OWH archive.
Our Washington Nationals have been doing great this season, so I thought I'd use this vintage baseball image from Digital Two for Tuesday for the VCMP sports challenge. I colored it with Prismacolor pencils & Gamsol. Haven't decided if I'll put any kind of sentiment on the outside or inside.
I'm also working on my Virginia card; I found a beautiful cardinal (state bird) at The Stamping Boutique. Waiting for my Glossy Accents to dry! See you soon.

VCMP Catch up
Challenge #3 Snowflakes but not Christmas:
#7 A Christmas card for kids and one for a hero:
One more intended for Challenge #2 the recipe challenge. It's a good thing I'm not a chef because I still got the recipe wrong; it has two DPs and an image (Designed 2 Delight), but I used a one-word sentiment instead of 3 words. Lol!
Thanks for stopping by!

Triple time stamping
Here's my card for Challenge #4 at the VCMP. The holly and sentiment stamps are from the Stampin' Up "Bells and Boughs" set.
This is a fun technique! I don't think the ribbon is quite the right color red but eyestrain was setting in late last night, lol! Happy Labor Day!

VCMP Challenges 5 & 6 plus one
Challenge #5 at the big OWH Stars & Stamps blog Virtual Cardmaking Party is to make a Western card. I discovered I have not one cowboy or horse stamp. Then I remembered this DP that's part of the My Mind's Eye Lost & Found "Portobello Road" 6x6! I stamped the word "rodeo" with an alphabet set in my stash.
Challenge 6 combines this week's OWH sketch and the challenge to use punches. I used the Martha Stewart butterfly punch, a square punch, SU modern label & word window punches.
More dp from my treasured hoard of MME 6x6 pads.
I was going to use this card for Challenge 2, a recipe challenge, until I realized that I have more than 2 pp's on the card. Oh well, I think it's a cutie, so I'll post it!

VCMP Challenge #1- ODBD
The first challenge at OWH Stars & Stamps Virtual Cardmaking Party is combined with the September Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge. The challenge is to use a verse from Scripture or other meaningful quote.
Here is my card:
The frame stamp is part of "Elegant Oval Frames" set from Our Daily Bread Designs, used with the coordinating Spellbinders/ODBD custom die set. I got these the month I won the ODBD challenge! The sentiment and little house stamps are from Inspired Stamps "Me and My House" clear stamp set. The DP is from a My Mind's Eye 6x6 pad.
Thanks for stopping by!
