OWH Sketch #68

I've really been enjoying making Father's Day cards; I didn't know it would be so much fun for me. At Mother's Day I posted a photo of my Mom as a young woman; so I'd like to do the same for my Dad. He was so handsome! Dad was born in 1905 and passed away at age 87. I will miss my dear Dad forever!

Necktie tutorial and Father's Day Card challenge at OWH!

OWH is sorely in need of Father's Day cards to send to the troops, so they can send them home to their Dads. There is a link to OWH to the upper right here on my blog, where you can find all the info you need about making cards for heroes.
In order to drum up cards for Father's Day, OWH challenged us to use the necktie tutorial and create 5 cards. Here are my five:

I used The Natural Mat Stack for the card fronts. I lined some of the collars so they would match the outside of the collars. I rounded the top corners of the shirt so they would look more like "shoulders". The "brads" are little stick-on brads I found at JoAnn's. Dixie will have to tell me how long they actually "stick on"! One of the brads I made with my new Viva Decor Pearl pen. I stamped the inside of the cards with "Happy Father's Day."

Hambo Hoedown: Spots & Stripes Challenge

It's Respect Chickens week at the Hoedown! This cute little fowl recommends eating cake instead of her feathered friends (I'd always rather eat cake, lol)! I realized I need an infusion of dotted and striped paper in my stash. Luckily I found some on a little Stampin' Up pad that I don't think is available now. Chicken colored with Marvy LePlumes. I used the SU boho flower punch and an SRM sticker I had in my stash. I stamped Happy Birthday inside.

More Father's Day cards for OWH!

We're busy making cards for the troops to send home for Father's Day. I love the big comfy chair stamp from Eat Cake Graphics. Somewhere in a recent magazine I saw the idea of a heart-shaped pillow on a chair, so I used a piece of corrugated paper to make it look less feminine (hopefully). The papers are from The Linen Stack. I stamped the sentiment on a piece of old book-type paper.
The golf stamp and sentiment are from Hambo Stamps. I added Glossy Accents to make the tee shiny. The background paper is from a Stampin' Up pad in my stash.
Father's Day mojo perkin'!! Thanks for stopping by.

MelonHeadz Illustrating's girl & guy soldiers: Father's Day cards

These cute soldier digis are from www.melonheadzillustrating.blogspot.com. They are part of two different bundles: Patriotic Set 1 and 2. Nikki provides her digis in both colored and clear format; I used her colored images -- how convenient!

USA! USA! Dimensional ruffle card

We're papering the wall over at OWH's Facebook page with patriotic cards! I wanted to try Sandy's Dimensional Ruffle technique after watching her tutorial on UStream. I had a lot of fun using a "Fostering Creativity" dp called "Stars and Stripes Collage". It was challenging and fun to incorporate some of the words on the DP into my design. The second card I will show is another card for one of our heroes overseas.

Hambo Heart Basket & OWH Sketch Challenge #67

I decided to combine this week's Hambo Hoedown Challenge and the new OWH Sketch, #67. The challenge at Hambo is to use their pretty Heart Basket & sentiment digi with lots of lace and flowers. This is a really nice digi set to have because general "love" cards are always needed at OWH. I had a double-sided piece of BoBunny DP that I was eager to use. I really like the unique color combo. I Cuttlebugged the maroon side to "soften" it a bit; I made the flowers with the Stampin' Up BoHo Blossoms punch; I colored the Heart Basket with Marvy LePlume markers and Glossy Accents. I love the lace; I found it in the sale bin at A. C. Moore. I had to buy the entire roll, but it was only a dollar! Let me know if you need some lace, haha!
