Meljen's Designs OWH Challenge: monochromatic card

Be sure to visit Meljen Designs DT blog to learn about their challenge for Operation Write Home:
www.meljensdesignsdt.blogspot.com
Meljen Designs challenged us to make a monochromatic card. I chose to use their Flutterby Fairy digi. It's so cute, and it inspired me to "go green". I printed the digi right onto PP; I hope it works. All the papers are from Heidi Grace Designs. I CB'd the middle piece of PP using the SU Square Lattice folder. I colored parts of the fairy image with Prismacolor pencils and added faux stitching. The sentiment is from Stampendous.
Last night of a great Birthday Bash month for OWH!

OWH Midweek throwdown

The midweek challenge is to make a card for a girl; I used this week's OWH sketch. I feel so rusty because I didn't make cards for a week. The vintage image is one I like from Digital Two for Tuesday. The paper is from Garden Party stack (DCWV, I think), plus a bit of paper I CB'd with my new Square Lattice folder from Stampin' Up. Paper edges inked with JH Distress Ink in Tea Dye. The sentiment is an SRM sticker. Thanks for stopping by!

Making AnyHero letters with kids!

The children made about 40 AnyHero letters today at the Alexandria Book Festival! They had a great time coloring and a few big people wanted to join in the fun and color, too!

Midweek throwdown and kids event!

Here is a birthday card for the MidWeek Throwdown at OWH. My mojo has been kind of stalled lately so it felt good to make a card! Also, I've been preoccupied with getting ready for the Alexandria Story Festival tomorrow, where I'll be making AnyHero letters with kids and reading my story. They are predicting 300-500 people will attend! I hope I have enough supplies...think I'll go back to the copy machine at Kinko's today, lol.

OWH Monday Wondering Challenge

Hi! I chose to make a Christmas card for Teresa Kline's challenge at Enjoy the VA Sunshine, which gave us a great sketch and asked us to make a holiday card.

OWH Pink birthday card challenge/Sketch #33

I used my little chef digi to celebrate OWH's birthday today! I printed him out smaller this time and colored him with Prismacolor pencils. He's very quick and easy to color. The pink pp's are from DCWV Garden Party Matstack; the background PP is My Mind's Eye Abbey Road. The sentiment is a no-name stamp I've had for awhile.
Everything I tried to make today came out crooked. Just one of those days, I guess.
Happy Birthday OWH!

I also finally made a card for the midweek challenge, which was to make a fall-themed thank you card. I used a masking technique that I learned at a workshop at The Paper Source. I cuttlebugged the PP with Spots & Dots ef; the sentiment is Stampendous and the leaf stamp is by Delta. Thanks for stopping by my blog and have a good week!

Sandy's Angel Challenge

After watching Sandy's video and thinking about the 9-11 anniversary tomorrow, I wanted to draw an angel for Sandy's blog challenge. God bless our heroes.

JoAnn's Craft for a Cause contest

I went to JoAnn's and bought a Heidi Grace Designs cardstock pad and coordinating rub-ons, as well as a roll of ribbon. I didn't know the 24 double sided pad of paper was on sale for $7.49 -- works out to about 31 cents a sheet. Four of the sheets have "sparkle", so I won't use them for OWH. Anyhoo I found a sketch I like and made a card to enter in JoAnn's contest. Don't forget to enter!!

I made a card with my digi

Hello! This is the first card I have made with my digi stamp! I just used red and black Prismacolor pencils and a black pen to freehand the sentiment (that could look better). I cut a tiny bit of his heel off, oooops. (Artistic license, lol?) I'm looking forward to trying other color combos. I'm thrilled by all the comments I've received! Have a great week.

OWH Sketch #34 and Yolanda's cute new digi!

The OWH Sketch challenge this week is to make a thank you card with yellow in it. I could not believe it -- when I searched through my stash I found ONE sheet of card stock in this sort-of-yellow (it's called "honey") color. I didn't realize I've been boycotting yellow! But I recently snagged a package of precut shapes that has some yellow in it, so I decided to use them instead of putting my car back on autopilot to the crafts store for yellow paper. It's actually a very cute bag of die cuts (Making Memories Jigsaw Shapes). FYI, the "Thanks" sentiment is Inkadinkado. My card doesn't match the sketch too well...
The second card is one I made today from Yolanda's awesome digi of a little girl wearing either her Dad or big brother's Army t-shirt. I love it. Notice the tape colored to look like duct tape; it seems that's all we ever have around my house, lol, these huge rolls of duct tape. The "love you" sentiment is Hampton Arts.
Be sure to hop over to Yolanda's because she's been having a party all day and offering all kinds of candy.

3 Card Challenge

Yolanda is hosting a party today at www.yolanda-imaginemakeshare.blogspot.com and one of her challenges is to make 3 cards for OWH. The center card uses the sweet Christmas Belle digi from www.digital-doodling.blogspot.com. I can't wait to make a card with the very cute digi Yolanda released today! It's a beautiful day and I should be outside, but I wanna make cards!!

TaDa! A new, free digi for you in honor of OWH's Birthday!

Hi, thanks for visiting! This is my first-ever digi offered publicly. I wanted my drawing to include a cake, in honor of OWH, but you can use it for different occasions by adding your own sentiment, candles, etc. Still, I had to sneak in one or two little nods to OWH, such as the top layer of the cake resembling an A2 envelope and the rickrack trim, haha!
Please do not sell my image, but you are most welcome to make cards with it for your personal use or challenges, and especially for cards for OWH! If you use my card for a challenge, I'd appreciate it if you would post a link to my blog so they will come back here (www.bitsofcheer.blogspot.com) to obtain the image. Left click on the digi to open it; then right click to save it. I'd love to see any card you make with my digi; here is a link so you can post a photo:

Thanks to Yolanda, Holley, and Sandy for their technical help and encouragement! Scroll down now to see the delightful sample cards Yolanda and Holley have made with my digi and to find links to their blogs.
Have fun making cards; have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend; and "HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OWH!"

Holley and Yolanda's colorful and fun sample cards made with my digi!

The first card is by Holley www.helloholley.blogspot.com and the second by Yolanda www.yolanda-imaginemakeshare.blogspot.com
Holley and Yolanda, I LOVE your cards! I was thrilled to see the papers, colors & layouts you chose. You are both so talented! And without your help, I wouldn't have been able to post my digi.
Don't forget: Yolanda is hosting her virtual OWH birthday party starting at 12:00 AM Sunday (9/5) at her happenin' blog, with all kinds of fun, including her own new FREE DIGI, a digi you have to work for, and a prize drawing for anyone who makes a card with my digi! Wow!

Sandy's new Ciara digis: irresistible!

I couldn't resist making a card from the new Ciara digis, not for the family challenge, but just for fun. I colored Ciara with my Prismacolor pencils and rubbed a pencil over the embossed snowflakes. The ribbon is blog candy from the Independence Day bloghop. Sandy's doggie reminds me of the beloved golden retriever I had for 12 years...they are the sweetest dogs. It's going to be fun making more cards from these digis!!

Sneak peek: free digi!

I made my first free digi to celebrate the OWH Birthday Bash! Here is a sneak peek! Hint: it involves cake! Hope to see you back here on Saturday (9/4) when I post it!
Many thanks to Yolanda www.yolanda-imaginemakeshare.blogspot.com and Holley www.helloholley.blogspot.com for helping me with the technical stuff.

OWH Midweek Throwdown!

The witch stamp is another $1 find! I'm picking up sale stamps for the Wright to Read festival on 9-18 at which I will make Any Hero cards with kids.
Today was one of those days when I couldn't cut anything straight; do you have those days? I do like how the orange flower (tipped in black ink) with the black brad looks! Perfect for a witch's bouquet.
I made a card yesterday with a cute ice cream sundae stamp; I hope you'll scroll down and check it out!
Be sure to visit my blog this Saturday, 9-4, for a surprise birthday bash freebie!
Happy Birthday Month, OWH!!

Playing with paisley & ice cream sundae stamps!
