Hambo Bubbles

Hi! Thanks for stopping by today! This cute digi by Hambo Stamps is called Test Tubes and it was free to everybody who participated (or as we call it, "danced") in the Hoedown challenge this past week! This week's challenge is to use any Hambo product and include bubbles on our card. I drew bubbles with Copic Cool Shadow and then added Glossy Accents to the bubbles. The DP is from 7Gypsies.
Thanks, Hambo, for another digi and fun challenge!

A vintage blue Nancy Drew roadster!

The Midweek Throwdown Challengea at Operation Write Home is "transportation". I found this 1929 image at Digital Two for Tuesday . I absolutely loved reading Nancy Drew mysteries when I was a girl and this digi reminded me of reading about Nancy in her shiny blue roadster! The car is a combination of paper pieced and colored with Copics and silver gel pen:

The winner of my blog candy from the OWH Memorial Day hop is Misty L.! Congratulations, Misty!

Hambo Stamps Battle of the Bands Blog Hop!

Welcome to my stop on THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS BLOG HOP, sponsored by Hambo Stamps! Today, Hambo friends (like me) and Hambo's Bacon Bits Design Team are bringing you fun creations that depict band groups; it might be one of our favorites or just one that was fun to design. If you arrived here from Talk to the Ham (Hambo's company blog), you're in the right place; if not, click here to return to Talk to the Ham and make sure you're eligible for the hopper prize!

Here's my card; can you guess what band it represents?

One of the best British rock bands ever:

THE MOODY BLUES!

Hambo Stamps digi, "Grumpy Boy", available at the Hambo digishop, is the awesome focal point of my collage card. As you can see, the band had five members originally--a bit of artistic license on my part, lol. I colored each fellow with Copics and cut them out. The denim effect on their jeans is done with a scrap of denim cloth dipped in Colorless Blender and pressed onto the (still wet) Copic coloring. BoBunny DPs; album title typed in Word and printed on a scrap from Free Vintage Digital Stamps; epoxy sticker by Glitz; Tim Holtz Distressing Tool and inks.

PRIZE INFO: Hambo Stamps will award a prize to one participant whose band creation tickles the Bacon Bits Design Team fancy in a hammin'-jammin' way. Another prize will be awarded randomly to a hopper (that's YOU) who comments on all of the blogs along the way. The winners will be announced at Talk to the Ham on Wednesday, May 29, as well as at the Hambo Hoedown weekly challenge blog. Hambo loves comments anytime, but the deadline for "Battle of the Bands" prize entry comments is Sunday, May 26, at 5 PM CST. Don't miss it!

Now it's time to jam on over to LYN, your next stop on this rockin' hop! Be sure to leave me a comment before you go! Thanks for joining in the Hambo fun!

This little gal is!

I used this week's OWH Sketch #173:
I used a combination of paper piecing and Copic coloring on this clear stamp from Inspired Stamps, His Little Ones collection. The DP is My Mind's Eye "Quilting Bee" 6x6 pad.  Glossy Accents on her eyes and shoes. She's very busy cutting and pasting for the bloghop this Saturday May 25! It's a biggie! See you there!

Spring cleaning at Sugar Creek Hollow!

Welcome! This is my second card as a member of the Sugar Creek Hollow Design Team and I hope you enjoy it! "Clean It Out" is the new two-week challenge starting today at Sugar Creek Hollow "--a fun way to use those items in your stash! I have had this pretty vintage image since May 2011 when it was posted at Digital Two for Tuesday, one of my fave vintage image sources! I altered the color in Word. I've also been holding on to this digi sentiment for awhile from Designed 2 Delight (now called From the Heart Digital Stamps). The frame is a wood-mounted stamp by Inkadinkado that I've had forever. I stamped and trimmed it, then colored the frame with Copics and distressed it with Ranger Wild Honey Distress Ink. The DPs are from Graphic 45's "French Country" 6x6 pad. The heart charm is from A.C. Moore; green button from my stash. I made the photo corner with a hole punch, embossing folder, and distress ink. Thanks for stopping by; I look forward to seeing what you create for this challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow! Have FUN creating.

Love this new stamp purchase!

I based my card on this week's OWH Sketch 172; I flipped it, adjusted some of the measurements and added a flower in the corner, but the sketch was my basic design! I just love this new stamp from Crafty Individuals called "Friends in Paris". The DPs are French Country by Graphic 45. Thanks for stopping by!

Tribute to OWH Cardmaker Jane E.

On May 10 there was a lovely tribute at the Stars & Stamps blog to OWH cardmaker, Jane E., who passed away recently, as well as an invitation to C.A.S.E. one of her lovely cards. Even though I never met Jane, it felt so good to make a card in her honor after all the good she did in her life. Click to view Jane's cards at the Stars & Stamps blog. For my version of Jane's beautiful poppy card, I used a Crafty Individuals stamp, Copics, Martha Stewart butterfly punch, and Graphic 45 DP. Thanks for stopping by!

Hambo Hoedown sketch challenge

This little guy is the new Robot digi, which you can find at the Hambo shop. It's a sketch challenge at Hambo this week; check it out as well as the Hoedown rules and join in the fun! Thanks for stopping by.

Hambo Hoedown: Alphabet Challenge

The current challenge at the Hambo Hoedown is to choose a letter of the alphabet and use two or three items on a card that begin with that letter. Spring Flowers Challenge at Sugar Creek Hollow

Welcome to my blog and my first post as a new member of Sugar Creek Hollow's Design Team! I want to thank Cec Wintonyk, for selecting me along with two other new designers: Moz Roberts and Cathi O'Neill (links to all team members on left sidebar). I'm thrilled to begin this journey with the rest of the team and also to get to know you better through our shared love of all things vintage and shabby chic. The new challenge starting today at Sugar Creek Hollow is Spring Flowers, a theme I know we are all more than ready for! This challenge is sponsored by Heather Hudson, talented designer, former DT member, and proprietor of her Etsy shop My Artistic Adventures. Heather has a beautiful selection of vintage collage sheets at her shop; check it out! If at least nine cards are posted, a random winner will receive (3) collage sheets from Heather's shop. Be sure to read the challenge rules at SCH! I'm happy to present my first DT card; the beautiful vintage tag that is the focal point of my card is one of Heather Hudson's creations. MY CARD INGREDIENTS: Tag--Heather Hudson digi; 7Gypsies Venice 6x6 paper pad; My Mind's Eye Market 6X6 Paper Pad; EK Success scalloped border punch; Tim Holtz Distressing Tool; Ranger Distress Inks in Tattered Rose and Tea Dye; Stampin' Up "Teeny Tiny Wishes" stamp set; flower from Michael's; Wright's velvet ribbon; adhesive rhinestones/pearls; yummy locket from a jewelry findings sale table at A.C. Moore. I can't wait to see your vintage or shabby chic creations for this challenge and throughout the months ahead! I hope you will stop by each of the Design Team members' blogs for more ideas and inspiration! Thanks for stopping by; have fun creating! See you soon.

Two little denim-clad guys

In one of Sandy Allnock's StageIt shows and in my Copics classes last weekend I learned about using Copics' Colorless Blender liquid to add texture. To get the denim effect in these cards, you dip a scrap of denim in the Colorless Blender and press it onto the colored image (colored with Copics). You can see the "denim" effect better on the lighter colored overalls but I think both of these cards turned out so cute! The DPs on the card to the left are from American Crafts "Dots & Stripes" 6x6 pad; on the card to the right, the DPs are Seven Gypsies "Venice" 6x6. Thanks for stopping by!
