Pirate Hambo
I forgot to email my mosquito card, so I decided to use this fun Pirate digi I had purchased at the Hambo store. The Hambo hoedown this weeks calls for using real or faux stitching (as you can tell, mine is faux). The background paper with the parrot is from a Me & My Big Ideas mat pad. Isn't it perfect for this jolly pirate and treasure chest! I think I'll stamp Happy Birthday on the inside before I send it to Operation Write Home.

Smooth sailing: OWH Midweek Throwdown
The theme for the MWT is "water" so I pulled out this cute Hambo stamp and sentiment. Thanks for stopping by and I hope your weekend is "smooth sailing" too!

Happy Birthday Stamps R Us!
It's the first birthday celebration at Stamps R Us and the challenge is to make a birthday card. I saw a really fun tutorial on inchies at YouTube which made me want to make an inchies card. I used OWH Sketch #60, a tiny new "piece of cake" rubber stamp, DPs and ribbon from stash, Ranger distress inks, and a 1" punch. I had all these little inchies on my table so I made two cards:
If you'd like to see that Youtube video, it's called "Inchies Tutorial" by Papercutsgluesticks. It's really short and neat music.

Shepherd boy card
I purchase my first stamp from Inspired Stamps and it is so cute! It arrived packaged so nicely. I just love the big eyes. I felt that paper-piecin' urge again, so that's what I did on part of the image. I think I love paper piecing because I loved making paper dolls when I was little. I colored the rest of the little shepherd with Copics. I put some Glossy Accents on those big beautiful eyes.

Vintage little girl in emerald coat & hat
Thanks to my sister, Mary, who found this cute old image (and a few others she sent me) in a book in her collection. Mary often sells rare and antique books in her Ebay shop, Books of Sterling. I just had to try to color this child's coat & hat to look like emerald green velvet for a holiday card. I happened to have a Marvy LePlume marker in emerald (thank goodness). I put her in those sensible thick tan stockings to keep her legs warm under her socks and "patent leather" shoes (Glossy Accents.) I like how this DSP already had the word "love" on it - perfect! I put some little touches of gold pen on the coat & hat, so I used this really nice gold ribbon I have (very easy to tie, yay) and added a couple of white half-pearls for that fancy look.
Monochromatic Mosquitos: Hambo Hoedown
The challenge this week at Hambo Hoedown is to use this new Mosquito digi to make a card with a monochromatic color scheme -- using a color we don't often use. Yellow is rarely the main color in my cards, even though I love yellow, so that's what I chose for this card. Using the mosquito was challenging, too! I always say mosquitos go for people who are sweet, so I had the perfect SWEET sentiment! Who knew a mosquito card could turn out kinda cute?
I put one more little mosquito on the inside of the card.
Thanks for buzzing by!

OWH Sketch 79
Hi! I decided to make two card samples, one for gals and one for guys. I used Stampin' Up and other DSP I had in my stash, I've gotten better since I made these (I hope) about getting a stronger inked image when stamping! Here are the deets on the rubber stamps:
Ducks: "Loons in H20" by Stampscapes
Flowers: Hampton Art
Sentiments: Stampendous
Vintage metal button: Stampin' Up
I hope these give you some ideas for using Sketch #79! It's another great OWH sketch! Thanks for stopping by and see you at OWH.
